Free Cruise from CET on NCL

I got a mailer the other day from CET for a free cruise voucher. Since I get SO much casino mail every day, I barely glanced at it, assuming that I would have to go to Vegas to pick up the voucher. Good thing I glanced at it before I tossed, as I only have to go to Harrah's Joliet next Friday - Sunday to pick up the voucher, which is no big deal. They are also offering "gifts" that if you earn like 150 tier credits, you get a pair of binoculars, and if you earn 5500 tier credits, you get a set of luggage, American Tourister, which I could probably buy at Kohl's for less than $100. So I'm not planning on actually playing there, just stopping in on Friday and picking up my voucher. I don't even know if we will be able to use the free cruise this year, as my job situation is fluid, and also I know it's not truly "free" as you have to pay taxes and we'd most likely upgrade to a balcony cabin. But since it's only an hour away to get it, I might as well, right? (even my husband is excited that I got this!)

If I did go I can only use the free cruise up until the end of this year. I was excited to see the new ESCAPE is available, but they only have the Carib itinerary, which I know my hubby is not crazy about. If we were going to use it, we'd most likely do an Alaskan cruise or something more exotic.

Anyone have any recs on which would be a good other ship/itinerary for me to pursue? I can post more details on what's available to me if you'd like.

Also if anyone has any hints/tips on how good of a deal this really is, I'd appreciate it! I've gotten the cruise voucher offer only once before, but I had to fly to Tunica or somewhere to get it, so I've never actually taken advantage of it before.

I receive free cruise offers from Harrah's NOLA often. I was able to take the offer once. It was a NCL cruise out of New Orleans in the Western Caribbean (Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan, Belize). My offer was for a balcony cabin plus they paid all the port fees. Some of the other offers I have received are for inside cabins and they don't include port fees. I also get cruise offers where you have to go to Las Vegas to get it. Haven't done that yet.

You will love the Alaskan cruise. I did the Alaskan cruise on Princess cruise line a couple of years ago and enjoyed it.

Carnival offered me a free inside cabin for a number of cruises. I leave for Alaska in a couple days. Taxes were $205 but i upgraded to a balcony, afterall, it IS alaska. Good incentive for me to get away.

What was interesting is that there were no rules about how many you can book, that i know of. I wish i had booked another.

All i did was checkin to my Carnival account and i saw the free cruise offers.

I got a free cruise offer direct from NCL for 2 specific cruises that had a slot tournament. I never called for details. Maybe i should have called and asked about Alaska just for the fun of it.

CET only once offered me a NCL cruise voucher and i never picked it up. That was a few years ago and got nothing since.

Have fun all on your cruises.

I used to get those offers when I was a CET player but never used them. I do remember mine were only good for 7-day or less cruises.
When you do pick up the cruise voucher, there may be restrictions on length of the cruise and destinations.
I can't help you with a ship recommendation as I haven't sailed on NCL since 1999.
I do know that another additional charge (besides port taxes and fees) will be the per person gratuities.

Itinerary is entirely up to where you would like to visit! I've done two Alaska cruises in the past. It could be cool and wet (pretty much a guarantee in Ketchikan) but if
you like wild nature, glaciers, etc.., it may be perfect for you! Bring binoculars.

I can't give you hints/tips on how good of a deal this really is but I know nhchris should be able to help as she's sailed often on comped NCL cruises.

That would be great!! We are booked on the Jewel Sept. 5th - 12th. We got the unlimited drink package free for booking when we did. Don't know if that is a good idea or not as it would be nice to be sober when we go. We have only been once but that was about 20 years ago. We both have fond memories and i don't know why it has taken so ling to go back.
