I don't play a lot of reels for the same reasons as you, Zeus. They just get boring fast. But my biggest hand pay was on quarter Quick Hit reels at Paris. Max bet was $1.25 and it had a progressive of $5000 if you got all 9 Quick Hits. Well, I got all 9 Quick Hits but it was in a bonus so it paid $10,000. I am still amazed by that!

I have played many, many times since and of course never managed that feat again, but I have had some positive sessions. The possibility of hitting a bonus keeps it more interesting, and the potential is there for a handpay. Just be careful because some of them are set up for 9 lines instead of 5, and I know at Palazzo you can bet like 45 quarters - Um No Thank you!

I wouldn't invest a ton in these, but it might be worth a shot and they had a bank of them at Caesars last time I was there (which was awhile ago).

@zeus I'm a bit of a reel ignoramus myself, but interested in experimenting -- so thanks for starting this thread! Maybe I'll try some of these out on the Strip Stumble...

I am going to suggest looking at $2 machines, playing one credit or $2 a spin. I have had really good luck on $2 machines in Vegas. That's my two cents worth!

Good luck with the reels Zeus!

I used to allot $500 to mess around with $10 & $25 reels in the HL room off-Strip, every visit, and never hit a thing LOL

The only reel slot I play now - I'll run $100 through Megabucks if it's in the casino.

I could not even imagine trying slots at that level. Not even after 6 margaritas. Allen calls me cheap, I call it being conservative. HHH

Agree with Cassie about Triple Double Gold Buffoon (hit my handpay last weekend on it) and also with Bluesfan on a $2 machine - maybe playing one credit at a time.

How much do you usually play on your penny machines at a time?

Thanks, sassycat! It really depends on how my day is going. If I am doing good I will run .80- 2.00 a spin. If I cannot hit a thing, then I am back to my .40-.50 spins. It is just my comfort level.

Remember in KC when I sat with you because I wanted time to get to finally meet you and I was playing that reel? I was clueless of what the slot was doing! But the time with you was so worth it. After we got home today I took my list of recommendations and have been reviewing a bunch of videos of these slots. I am still not sure about these one line reels. Maybe I am just overthinking this and need to wait until I get to Vegas.

You have plenty of time. Just play what you feel comfortable with.

I did enjoy visiting with you in KC and thanks for sitting there and playing by me. It was really nice.
