Horseshoe Casino Resort, Southern Indiana (Elizabeth)

Sharon and I are looking at road trips to casinos that we have never been to. Looking at a fall trip to Horseshoe in Southern Indiana at the end of next month and see the fall colors on the way.

Looks like it's about a 6 1/2hour drive for us, about the same distance as us driving to Council Bluffs or Kansas City

Has anybody on this forum ever been to this casino and stayed at their hotel? Any info would be great.

Yep been there twice. Nice hotel, nice casino. It's still on a boat and has 3 levels. The first time we went I wanted to stop because they had Live Lobsters Dancing Nightly! A game I played while cruising. Now it's gone but they have a good mix of old and new (if I remember right).

I was there a LONG time ago. I remember several floors of casino space and a LONG walk from the casino to the hotel towers. Probably not really much longer than many Vegas casinos, but it was a pretty good hike for a non-Vegas casino. It is way out in the middle of nowhere. You will think you're lost and then, there it will be!
It's particularly hard to take being stabbed in the back close to home. There's always a feeling of betrayal when people of your own group oppose you.

The walk from the hotel to the casino is so long that they actually have a little shuttle to cart you back and forth for much of the route (if you want). I walk it and Bill uses his scooter. And QueenB is right, once you get to town you still have a bit of a drive along the river before you get there but it is very pretty.

The second time we were going to go it was April and we reserved 2 nights. They called me and said they had to cancel because the road to the casino was flooded. We ended up canceling and taking the trip after Bills bypass.

Linda and I have been 3 or 4 times, but not in the last 7-8 years. It was a Caesars, then a Harrah's, then back to a Caesars lol. It's 3 levels, I think one was non-smoking, and they used to have to pull up the gang plank for 5 minutes every hour or so for the 'cruise'. You couldn't get off at that time. The hotel was pretty nice and they had (at that time) the Emperors Feast Buffet which was really good. What dates you looking at?

When ever the leaves change down there. Up here they turn colors a week before Halloween, so I was thinking maybe staying Halloween week, or the week after on Monday and Tuesday night.

You should just go to Council Bluffs instead so we can meet you
