					Delta Downs - Any info?

So I am working on travel for the fall and I am leaning heavily towards the Coushatta Meet & Greet. It's not really worth it for me to go all the way there for only 2 nights, so I asked myself what else there is to do in the area, and of course that meant what other casinos are there....

L'Auberge sounds nice. A bit pricy for a night but a possibility.

Golden Nugget is even more pricy and I am not a fan of either their Vegas or AC property.

Delta Downs. I LOVE going to the track, and we have no more live racing in New England. It's B-connected so I get a super cheap rate. Sounds promising.

Has anyone been there and can you tell me a but about it? Is the hotel decent? Will I feel comfortable/safe being an old solo lady? Anything else that would be pertinent?

 Thanks!!

I've got an idea and will work on it when I get home. I haven't stayed at DD or been there in years.

Delta Downs is my usual go to place when Coushatta seems too far! lol!!
I think you will def be safe there Chris. Mom and I like the hotel, and usually go there (again when Coushatta just seems so far!).
The slots are a great variety too!

@Nhchris, *if* I go to coushatta, I plan on going on Tuesday and coming home on Saturday (I've actually already got flights booked using miles because I can always cancel them later for free if I decide not to go). My plan was to do Coushatta - Tues through Friday and then head to New Orleans for one night. But maybe I can switch to flying into MSY and flying out of IAH and do Delta Downs too! I've been to New Orleans several times so I wouldn't feel as though I was missing out.

Haha! You guys are just as crazy as I am!! @Blase, I hope you make it to Coushatta and maybe we can pull this off too! @RiverSong, are you ever going home? I am dying to know what your thoughts are. @UTtoyfan, thanks for the great info and if this happens you must join! Bring your mom

I can't find a schedule for live racing for 2015 yet, but last year they ran thoroughbreds in November on Wednesday through Saturday. I am guessing they will do the same this year but that's just a guess.

So preliminarily, I am thinking of flying into Houston on Sat or Sun and shooting up to San Antonio to see my son. I will leave there very early Tuesday and get to Coushatta by early afternoon hopefully. Stay at Coushatta Tues/Wed and then either stay a 3rd night at Coushatta and do Friday at Delta Downs, or do Thurs/Fri at Delta Downs. I would need to leave DD by about 11 Saturday morning.

I was initially looking at doing DD first and had great rates, but when I realized there would likely be no racing and looked at Thur/Fri the rates are not so good. Thursday isn't too bad, but Friday is high. Now I am back on the fence - HHH - but I am not through playing around with this.

We visited Delta Downs, years ago, and did not like it - didn't even play because they had not one single video poker machine and no table games.

I like L'Auberge du lac and the GN is within walking distance next door.

I suggest two nights Coushatta and two nights LDL or three nights Coushatta and one night LDL but that's me I love the restaurant at LDL called Embers. I love the restaurant at LDL called Embers.

I am definitely open to that @Mauretania. I thought the race track would be a nice change of pace but not necessary.

Anyone else have some thoughts or insight?
