Why the lack of eating establishments in Midwest casinos?

Something I noticed since becoming Southern resident. Most all the casinos down here have five or more restaurants in them, especially the ones in Mississippi and Louisiana.

But the same size, or larger casinos in Iowa, Illinois, Indianna, and Missouri have only a couple eating places. I wonder why??

The ones down there are destination places. The ones in the Midwest are more local orientated and probably do not have the traffic to keep many open. Labor costs may be a bit cheaper down south as well.

Well that certainly makes sense. All the ones in the midwest are definitely not destinations.

For that matter, they're not even on an interstate highway like the many in Oklahoma along I-35

That is true, southerners will eat anything! When I see crawfish and grits on almost every menu down here it makes me want to gag!

Hey, now, I am a lifelong southerner, and there are a whole lot of things that I won't touch. And crawfish is one of them.

My grandma and grandpa had a home on the bank of the Columbia River east of Portland Oregon. Grandma used to put fish in a lobster trap and lower it in the river. The crayfish were very large in those days as no one caught them. She would boil them and serve them with melted butter--they were delicious.

Everybody's taste is different and I was joking @zeus when I said southerners will eat anything. If it wasn't for the Louisiana restaurants, I never would have discovered that I like eating deep fried alligator!
